Welcome Chancellor Kimberlee Messina
ÑÇɫӰ¿â is pleased to announce the selection of Dr. Kimberlee S. Messina as the institution's next Chancellor. Dr. Messina brings more than 28 years of experience in the California Community College System, along with a strong commitment to equity and student success, and a proven track record of transformative leadership. Most recently, she has served as President of Spokane Falls Community College in Washington since 2019, where she has led bold initiatives to close equity gaps, enhance student outcomes, and reimagine the student experience.
Dr. Messina's career spans every level of academic leadership—from tenured Spanish faculty at Santa Rosa Junior College to interim president at Foothill College. As Dean of STEM at Santa Rosa, she forged partnerships with industry and nonprofits to dramatically increase access for underrepresented students. At Foothill College, she served as Vice President of Instruction and Institutional Research before stepping into the interim presidency. She later became Vice Chancellor for Educational Services and Planning at San Mateo County Community College District.
A first-generation college graduate and trilingual Spanish-Portuguese-English speaker, Dr. Messina holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of California, Davis, and is a 2021–2022 alumna of the prestigious Aspen Presidential Fellowship. Her personal background and professional experience position her well to serve ÑÇɫӰ¿â's diverse student community.
Contract negotiations are ongoing, with final approval expected on June 26, 2025.
